Questo cd riunisce due album di Jimmy Smith: “Bashin’ – The Unpredictable Jimmy Smith” (Verve V6-8474) e “Jimmy Smith Plays Fats Waller” (Blue Note BST-84100). I due album sono stati registrati entrambi nel 1962 e vedono Smith accompagnato dal suo trio abituale con Quentin Warren alla chitarra e Donald Bailey alla batteria. Il primo album in realtà si divide in due parti: nella prima Smith è sostenuto da una big band diretta da Oliver Nelson e nella seconda appunto dal suo trio. Come ulteriore bonus sono tate aggiunte due versioni alternative di altrettanti brani presenti nel primo album.
